Squid Game is the Top 1 series on Netflix in 2021

On September 17th this year, the TV show of Squid Game was released on Netflix. Hwang Dong-hyuk is the creator of this successful Korean series and the second season is expected to be released on Netflix by the end of 2022. Today, Squid Game is one of the most popular series on Netflix.
Squid Game is about some people who do not have much money and have many debts. They are recruited to participate in a game in which participants who lose will be “eliminated”. The game has a period of six days and every day there is one game, like the ones they played when they were little kids, but now they are more difficult.
The people who work there must wear red jumpsuits and a black masks. On the mask they wear a drawn figure, it can be a circle, square or triangle. The circle refers to workers, the squares the supervisors and the triangles are soldiers. They cannot see each other’s faces or speak due to confidentiality issues.
Hwang Dong-hyuk (the creator) at first thought that the series wasn’t going to be successful because in 2008, when he showed the script to the producers and actors, they thought that it was very unbelievable. A decade later he rewrote the script making it more realistic, then he went to show it to Netflix. He convinced them, and they bought the script. Nowadays, it is one of the most famous series in the world.
Squid Game hides a critique of capitalism. In this series, a lot of people want to be kidnapped because their lives are like a dictatorship: they do exactly the same every day, they’re controlled, and they can’t complain. Some people might consider it reasonable to put your life at risk if that gives you options to get out of the basements of the system. The creator thought that all in this life is like a competition: who has more money, more popularity… Hwang Dong-hyuk once said: “Squid Game was the most physically aggressive childhood game I played in neighborhood alleys as a kid, which is why I also loved it the most. In a way, it’s the most symbolic game that reflects today’s competitive society, so I picked it out as the show’s title.”
In our opinion, this series is quite good, since it helps you understand the situation of other people with fewer possibilities, how they think and their situations. In this series you can learn a lot about survival methods. It is a series of strong emotions and quite mysterious, but we are sure you will love it.
We recommend it because that way you can see the situations that people without resources have to go through when they are desperate and see how this reflects the reality of their situation. It is also suitable for those people who like drama and action… And finally, we think it is great because it has a very original and unusual drama theme that people like.
